More than 200 million kilometers from Earth, in an inhospitable crater that is believed to have been an immense lake, one of the most advanced artificially intelligent robots that human kind has ever built has woken up. On February 18th, the Perseverance rover landed on the red planet, in the Jezero crater, after a seven month long journey through space, and a decade long struggle to develop and test new, cutting-edge technologies that look and sound like they’re straight out of the latest Sci-Fi movies.   Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane says, "the rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to the Spanish capital might be true". Juventus were desperate to bring Ronaldo to Turin to replicate that success in Europe, however, the Italian champions have failed to progress beyond the quarter-final stage since the five-time Ballon d'Or winner arrived. After last week's elimination from the Champions League by underdogs Porto, talk has grown that the move away from Madrid was a mistake and that Ronaldo is destined to return to the club this summer.

There’s a serious imbalance in supply and demand of chips in the IT sector globally, Samsung's co-chief executive and mobile chief, Koh Dong-jin, said at a shareholder meeting. "It is hard to say the shortage issue has been solved 100%." Samsung was working with overseas partners to meet demand, he added. Quilter Cheviot research analyst Ben Barringer said: "Growing trade tensions between the US and China put the semiconductor industry in uncertainty, even before the pandemic "  Last month's closure of its chip-fabrication plant by adverse weather conditions in Texas had exacerbated Samsung's problems. Taiwanese research firm TrendForce estimated the shutdown could reduce global smartphone production by 5% in the second quarter of this year.

  Europe has missed its chance to stop the third wave of the coronavirus epidemic before it got out of control. Now it's paying a high price for it, with new lockdowns being imposed across the continent. France announced new restrictions on 16 regions, including Paris and Nice, though President Emmanuel Macron has refused to reimpose a national lockdown as cases soar.Large parts of Italy including the cities of Rome and Milan once again entered a strict lockdown, while in Spain, all regions except for Madrid have decided to restrict travel over the upcoming Easter holidays. The German capital of Berlin has halted the planned easing of its lockdown too, quoting a rising number of Covid-19 cases. A  more contagious variant of the virus , known as B.1.1.7, seems to be the common culprit behind the chaos. New preliminary data published in the British Medical Journal suggest that the strain, first detected last year in the United Kingdom,  may also be more deadly .
